We recently discussed the story of Las Vegas girl Takara Davis, who received a jaywalking ticket while in a coma after being hit by a car.
Davis suffered injuries to her elbow, knee and head including bleeding from the brain, in the accident. She was treated at University Medical Center, as doctors put her into a medically induced coma to prevent swelling of the brain, the New York Daily News reported. Davis’ mother, Kellie Obong, told the the Las Vegas Review-Journal that her daughter is now in rehab for brain injuries.
Davis is suing Lusine Vartanyan and other related parties for negligence and negligence per se. According to her attorney, Christian Morris, there were no brake marks at the scene. Morris contends that the driver was likely speeding due to the amount of damage to the vehicle, such as a shattered windshield.
The Takara Davis lawsuit will be an interesting case to follow. As we discussed previously, the fact that the allegedly jaywalking Las Vegas girl received the ticket was odd. Even if it hadn’t been dismissed, she still could have sued the driver.
